Funeral Services for Mrs. Jane Thomas Chandler are Sunday, June 7, 2026, at 2 p.m. at Shiloh Cumberland Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at the funeral home from 5 p.m. - 8 p.m. and on Sunday morning, 11 a.m. until service time. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.
Mrs. Chandler, 93, of McKenzie, died on June 1, 2026. She was born on September 16, 1932, in the Hico Community to Charlie Fred Thomas and Victorine Crawford Thomas. A proud graduate of McKenzie High School, Class of 1950, Mrs. Chandler was the last surviving member of her graduating class. She was also the oldest by age and in years member of Shiloh Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. Chandler devoted many years to caring for others through her work as a Certified Cardio Nurse Technician at Baptist Hospital in Huntingdon. Her compassion and professionalism were evident in the care she gave to patients and in the respect she earned from those who worked beside her. She later worked with her daughter at Priest Drugs and also worked the lunch counter at Coroka Cafe, where her friendly spirit and warm smile were a blessing to many.
Her interests and contributions extended far beyond her work. Mrs. Chandler was a lifetime member of the Thomas-Bridges Association and took great pride in her family history. She was a historian and genealogist who self-published the book Thomas Line, preserving the story of her family for future generations. She was also a talented seamstress and an accomplished quilter whose hands created beauty and comfort for those she loved. As a member of Silver Threads, she enjoyed fellowship and friendship with others who shared her gifts and interests. She crocheted thousands of hats to give away, touching countless lives through simple acts of generosity and care. She was honored as Grand Marshal of the Bethel Homecoming Parade, reflecting the love and admiration she inspired in her community.
She is survived by her children, Tommy Chandler and his wife Katie, Katherine Flippin, and Vickie Summers, her grandchildren and their families, including Rev. Gwen (Jarid) Warren and their daughter Grace Holland-Miller and her husband Wren, Wendy (Dustin) Chandler, and their children Andrew Barton, Gatley Boroughs, and Coralee Boroughs, Molly (Clint) Vaughn, and their children Ozzy Lessenberry and Cecil Lessenberry, and Lee (Meredith) Chandler, and their sons Wade Chandler and Wyatt Chandler, a niece Samantha Butler Ussary, second great-niece Willow and second great-nephew Julian.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 58 years, Kenneth Chandler, her sister Nancy Thomas Smith, and son-in-law Barry Summers.
