Johnsey Hurls No-Hitter, Davidson Homers as Rebels Blank Lions in Season Opener

CAMDEN (March 3) — McKenzie High School opened the baseball season Tuesday on the road against Camden High School. Rebel Xander Johnsey pitched a no-hitter, and Cooper Davidson went deep to lead the offense in a 6-0 win.
McKenzie scored two runs each in the second and third innings, one in the fifth and one in the seventh.
Davidson was 3-for-4 with a home run, a double, two RBIs and a run scored. Fletcher Holt was 1-for-3 with a double, a walk and two runs scored. Lelan Gordon was 1-for-2 with a walk, two RBIs, a run scored and a stolen base. Johnsey was 0-for-3 with a walk and an RBI. Cole Brown was 0-for-3 with a walk and a run scored.
Johnsey earned the no-hitter for McKenzie, allowing no runs on one walk with ten strikeouts.
Carter Maines took the loss for Camden, allowing five runs (four earned) on three hits with six walks and ten strikeouts in four and a third innings. Amaury Rogers threw the final two and two-thirds innings, allowing one earned run on two hits while walking two and striking out five.
