Lady Bulldogs, Rebels Earn Wins

McKENZIE (November 7) — McKenzie Middle School hosted Gleason Thursday for a pair of basketball contests. The Lady Bulldogs took an early lead and held off a late McKenzie rally for a 19-12 win. After a tight first half, the Rebels pulled away in the second for a 38-22 victory.
Gleason Lady Bulldogs 19, McKenzie Lady Rebels 12
Gleason jumped out to a 7-2 lead after the opening frame, led by Kristiana Addison with five points, including a three-pointer. Karlie Wilson had a pair. MaKayla Dabbs scored the lone McKenzie bucket.
Following a scoreless second quarter, Gleason led 7-2 at the half.
The Lady Bulldogs had a 4-3 edge in the third, all scored by Wilson. Lady Rebel Abby Carroll had a pair, and Kristy Towne hit a free throw. Entering the final frame, Gleason led 11-5.
McKenzie cut the deficit to as little as one point early in the fourth, but the Lady Bulldogs regrouped for an 8-7 advantage to seal the win. Addison scored six, and Wilson added a pair. Charlie Cassidy led the Lady Rebels with five points, including a three-pointer. Ellie Doede had a pair.
Lady Bulldog Kristiana Addison led all scorers with eleven points, including a three. Karlie Wilson scored eight points.
Charlie Cassidy led McKenzie with five points, including a three-pointer.
Rebels 38, Bulldogs 22
McKenzie had a 9-4 advantage in the first frame, led by Lane Brown with five points, including a three-pointer. Seth Stafford and Dawson Reeder each had a pair. Bulldog Ashton Bell scored three points, and Cooper Sawyers hit a free throw.
Gleason cut the deficit with an 8-4 edge in the second, led by Lawson Tucker with six points. Conner Ballew added a pair. Stafford and Parker Ross each had a pair for McKenzie. At the half, the Rebels led 13-12.
McKenzie built a lead in a 14-5 third quarter, led by Brown with seven points, including another three. Ross scored four, and Reeder had three points. Sawyers had three points for Gleason, and Ballew and Colton Phillips each hit a freebie. Heading into the final frame, McKenzie led 27-17.
The Rebels capped the win with an 11-5 tilt in the fourth, led by Stafford, Brown and Ross with three points each. Reeder added a pair. Ballew had all five Bulldog points.
Rebel Lane Brown led all scorers with 15 points, including a pair of three-pointers. Parker Ross scored nine, and Seth Stafford and Dawson Reeder each had seven points.
Conner Ballew led Gleason with eight points. Lawson Tucker scored six.
