Lady Cats Golf Poised for Another Historic Run

McKENZIE — The Bethel University Lady Wildcat Golf Team enters the 2025-2026 season with high expectations and championship ambitions after one of the most successful campaigns in program history. Last year’s squad shattered records, claiming five tournament titles and finishing the season ranked No. 36 nationally, the highest year-end ranking in program history.

This fall, Head Coach Larry Joe Smith along with assistant coaches Wyatt Glover and Ben Glover return to lead a veteran-laden team filled with experience, confidence, and unfinished business. With six of seven players returning from last year’s breakout roster, the Lady Wildcats are poised to build on their remarkable success and take another step forward on the national stage.

“We had a very special season last year, but what excites me most is that we didn’t peak—we’re still getting better,” said Coach Smith. “We return a group of players who understand what it takes to win, and they’ve come into this season more motivated than ever. If we continue to work hard, lower our scoring averages, and play for each other, this team has the potential to be even better than last year. Every player brings something unique that elevates our team as a whole.”

This year’s roster features a well-balanced mix of experience and leadership, consisting of two seniors, two juniors, and two sophomores—each of whom played a vital role in last season’s success.

Seniors Durbin Chacon and Tessa Myers will provide veteran leadership and composure; both having been instrumental in the team’s steady play under pressure.

Juniors Merle Chacon and Martina Gonzalez return as consistent scorers with a proven ability to compete at a high-level week after week.

Sophomores Annabelle Cziezerski and Allijah Griffith, both key contributors as freshmen, are expected to make an even greater impact as they continue to develop and mature in collegiate competition.

This year’s team not only boasts experience, but also a strong team chemistry and an internal drive to improve. From shot selection and course management to short game precision, each returning player has identified personal goals to bring down their scoring averages and sharpen their competitive edge.

With a full tournament slate ahead in both the fall and spring, the Lady Wildcats will face top-tier competition and several opportunities to improve their national standing. Their depth, cohesion, and track record of consistent play give them a strong foundation to chase championships once again.

Coach Smith and his assistants believe this group has the mindset and the makeup to achieve something truly special.
