From the Sep 30, 2025 e-Edition
McKENZIE (September 29) — McKenzie High School hosted Mayfield Monday for the final home match of the regular soccer season. The Lady Rebels didn't earn a win, drawing 3-3 in a game shortened by darkness, but they maintained their undefeated status with one game to play.
McKenzie trailed 1-0 early, then scored two straight. Mayfield answered for a 2-2 tie before halftime. The Lady Rebels regained the lead, but the Lady Cardinals tied it again. McKenzie made a couple of strong attacks on the goal, but were unable to score before the field became too dark to continue. The officials called it a 3-3 draw with about five minutes remaining.
Lady Rebel Stephanie Padilla scored a pair of goals, and Kaydynce Barksdale had the other.
Goalkeeper Alleigh Britt had six saves in the contest.
McKenzie is still undefeated with a record of 5-0-3. They finish the season with a pivotal road match at Westview Thursday at 6 p.m., a game that will determine the top seed in the district tournament.
