Lady Rebels Earn Big First Win at Bradford, Rebels Fall
From the Nov 26, 2024 e-EditionBRADFORD (November 23) — McKenzie traveled to Bradford High School Saturday evening for a pair of Hall of Champions (preseason) contests. The Lady Rebels were dominant in their first win of the year, 56-26. The Rebels, still short-handed while football continues, fell 70-35.

The Lady Rebels jumped out to a 21-10 lead after the opening frame, led by Ava Hastings and Molly French each with a pair of three-pointers. Jaycee Stafford scored four, Kynadie Brown hit a three, and Sophie Pate had a pair. Calley Graves scored five for Bradford, including a three. Mya Page hit a three, and Ashlyn Reynolds had a pair.
McKenzie pulled away with an 18-4 advantage in the second quarter. French hit another pair of threes for six points, and Madelin Gottshall and Braylin Auvenshine each also scored six. Page and Princess Cain each had a pair for Bradford. At the half, McKenzie led 39-14.
The Lady Rebels had a 13-8 edge in the third, led by Stafford with six points. Gottshall scored four, and Hastings hit a three. Reynolds and Page each hit a three for Bradford, and Cain added a pair. Entering the final frame, McKenzie led 52-21.
The fourth was a 4-4 wash. Hastings and Gracie Aird each had a pair for McKenzie, and Page and Abby Glisson did the same for the Lady Red Devils.
Lady Rebel Molly French led all scorers with a dozen points, all from three-pointers. Ava Hastings had eleven points, including a trio of threes. Jaycee Stafford and Madelin Gottshall each scored ten.
Mya Page led Bradford with ten points, including a pair of threes.
Red Devils 70, Rebels 35
Bradford had a 17-7 lead after the first frame, led by Jax Street with six points. Carven Cates scored five with a three, Jax Richardson had four points, and Quacey Lewis had a pair. Rebel Carter Kee scored five with a three, and Eli Vinson had a pair.
The Red Devils pulled away with a 26-9 advantage in the second quarter, led by Richardson with 12 points on four threes. Brodie McDaniel scored seven with a three, Lewis had five with a three, and Cates added a pair. Kee led McKenzie with seven points. Vinson added a pair. At the half, Bradford led 43-16.
Bradford enjoyed a 21-13 tilt in the third, led by Cates with nine points on a trio of threes. Richardson and Lewis each scored six. Kee scored ten for McKenzie with a pair of threes, and Vinson also hit a three. Heading into the final frame, the Red Devils led 64-29.
The fourth was a 6-6 wash. Rebel Cayden Ownby had six points, including a three-pointer. Red Devil Clark Gibson scored four, and Trevor Harrington had a pair.
Rebel Carter Kee was tied as the leading scorer with 22 points, including a trio of three-pointers.
Red Devil Jax Richardson also scored 22, including four threes. Carven Cates had 16 points, also with four three-pointers.
