Lady Rebels, Bulldogs Pick Up Wins

GLEASON (December 2) — Gleason Junior High hosted McKenzie Middle School Monday for a pair of basketball contests. The Lady Rebels trailed by four at the half, but seized momentum down the stretch for a 38-35 win. The Bulldogs gradually built a lead throughout for a 32-21 victory.
McKenzie Lady Rebels 38, Gleason Lady Bulldogs 35
The Lady Bulldogs had an 11-9 lead after the opening frame, led by Gabi Pinkston with five points, including a three-pointer. Karlie Wilson scored four, and Brylee Robertson had a pair. Lady Rebel Charlie Cassidy scored five points, and Ellie Doede and Kristy Towne each had a pair.
Gleason had a 7-5 edge in the second quarter, led by Robertson with five points. Wilson added a pair. Cassidy hit a three for McKenzie, and MaKayla Dabbs had a pair. At the half, the Lady Bulldogs led 18-14.
McKenzie tied it up with a 14-10 advantage in the third, led by Alleigh Britt with ten points, including a pair of threes. Cassidy also hit a three, and Ridley Holt hit a free throw. Robertson scored four for Gleason, and Pinkston hit a three. Kinley Baumgartel had a pair, and Wilson hit a freebie. Entering the final frame, the score was knotted at 28-28.
McKenzie took the win with a 10-7 tilt in the fourth, led by Cassidy with seven points. Abby Carroll had a pair, and Britt hit a free throw. Wilson scored five Lady Bulldog points, and Robertson added a pair.
Lady Rebel Charlie Cassidy led all scorers with 18 points, including a pair of three-pointers. Alleigh Britt scored eleven, also with a pair of threes.
Brylee Robertson led Gleason with 13 points. Karlie Wilson scored a dozen.
Bulldogs 32, Rebels 21
Gleason had a 9-4 lead after the first frame, led by Conner Ballew with seven points. Leiland Roney had a pair. Rebels Seth Stafford and Parker Ross each had a pair.
The Bulldogs had a 7-3 advantage in the second quarter, led by Cooper Sawyers with five points, including a three-pointer. Grant Pinkston had a pair. Rebel Dawson Reeder had a pair, and Lane Brown hit a free throw. At the half, the Bulldogs led 16-7.
Gleason had an 8-6 edge in the third, led by Sawyers with five, again with a three-pointer. Ballew added a pair, and Pinkston hit a freebie. Reeder scored all six McKenzie points. Heading into the final frame, the Bulldogs led 24-13.
The fourth quarter was an 8-8 wash. Sawyers led Gleason with six points, and Mikal Wescott had a pair. Reeder again scored six for the Rebels, and Stafford added a pair.
Bulldog Cooper Sawyers led all scorers with 16 points, including a pair of threes. Conner Ballew had nine points.
Dawson Reeder led McKenzie with 14 points.
