Lady Rebels Fall to Riverside, 3-1

McKENZIE (September 18) — McKenzie High School hosted Riverside Thursday for a district volleyball match. The Lady Rebels were defeated 3-1 in four sets, bookended by two thrilling, down-to-the-wire sets.
Momentum shifted several times in the opening set, but McKenzie battled for a 25-23 win.
Riverside was in control for most of the next two sets, claiming them 25-14 and 25-12, respectively.
The Lady Rebels fell behind early in the fourth set but rallied, and the teams were tied multiple times. Riverside pulled ahead 23-19, but McKenzie earned four straight points to knot the score again. It was tied again at 24-24, but the Lady Panthers scored two straight to take the set, 26-24.
Lady Rebel Kynadie Brown had five aces, one dig and eleven assists. Jaycee Stafford had five kills, four aces, two digs and an assist. Addison Milam had five kills, two aces and five digs. Ridley Holt had a kill and four aces. Molly French had two kills, two aces and a dig. Ashley Dunavant had a kill and two digs. Haylee Beard had a kill. Kynlee Barden had an ace, and Natalia Taylor had a dig.
The Lady Rebels host Madison Academic Monday for a district double-header and West Carroll, also a district opponent, Tuesday.
