Lady Rebels Win Slugfest at Peabody, 21-12
From the Mar 18, 2025 e-EditionTRENTON (March 10) — The McKenzie Lady Rebels traveled to Peabody High School Monday to face the Lady Tide in a high-scoring softball contest. Both teams racked up double-digit hits and had big innings in the first and seventh, but the Lady Rebels also produced runs in the middle innings to make the difference in a 21-12 win.
McKenzie set the tone with eight runs in the top of the first. Peabody responded with five in the home half but were held in check for the next three frames while the Lady Rebels added three in the second and one in the third. McKenzie plated three more in the top of the fifth, and the Lady Tide mustered one in the bottom. Each team scored six in the seventh.
Kailie Hudgins led the Lady Rebel onslaught, going 4-for-5 with a double, three RBIs and two runs scored. Jaycee Stafford was 3-for-6 with two doubles and three runs scored. Braylin Auvenshine was 2-for-6 with three RBIs and two runs scored. Haylee Beard was 2-for-6 with two RBIs and a run scored. Carli Beeler was 2-for-6 with an RBI and three runs scored. Ady Freeman was 2-for-6 with an RBI and two runs scored. Maggie Hall was 1-for-4 with a triple, two walks, four RBIs and two runs scored. Aubrey Jackson was 1-for-4 with a double, two walks, an RBI, two runs scored and a stolen base. Aurora Johnson was 1-for-3 with two walks, an RBI and two runs scored.
Alexis Wilson homered for Peabody to cap a 2-for-4 night with a walk, an RBI and two runs scored.
Lady Rebel Braylin Auvenshine earned the complete-game win, allowing 12 runs (nine earned) on 13 hits with three strikeouts and six walks.
Ella Hilton took the loss for the Lady Tide, allowing 15 runs (nine earned) on 13 hits while striking out one and walking two in five innings. Alexis Wilson pitched two innings of relief, allowing six runs (one earned) on five hits while striking out two and walking four.
