Lady Tigers Earn Walk-Off Win over Houston County
From the Apr 28, 2026 e-EditionBRUCETON (April 23) — Hollow Rock-Bruceton Central High School softball hosted Houston County Thursday for a district contest. The visiting Lady Irish had the momentum early, but the Lady Tigers rallied late for the tie, then won it on a walk-off single by Amelia Bennett.
Houston County struck first with three runs in the top of the first frame. Central answered with one in the home half. Each team scored three in the third, then two in the fifth. The Lady Tigers tied it with two in the bottom of the sixth, then walked off with a run in the seventh.
Lady Tiger Madison Holder was 2-for-3 with a home run, a walk, two RBIs and two runs scored. Kyleigh Baker was 1-for-4 with a home run, three RBIs and a run scored. Lilly McGee was 3-for-4 with two triples, three runs scored and a stolen base. Abby Baker was 3-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored. Cloe Morgan was 1-for-4 with a double and a run scored. Kylie Craig was 1-for-3 with a stolen base. Addison Tucker was 1-for-3. Amelia Bennett was 1-for-4 with an RBI.
Houston County's Addie Horn was 2-for-4 with two doubles and three runs scored. Peyton Brooks was 2-for-4 with a run scored and a stolen base. Ally Mitchell was 2-for-4 with a run scored. Madelynn Brooks was 1-for-2 with a walk and an RBI. Brilee Anderson was 1-for-3 with a sacrifice fly, three RBIs and a stolen base. Preslee Moore was 1-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored. Jakelyn Boone was 1-for-4 with two runs scored.
Kyleigh Baker got the start for Central, allowing seven runs (three earned) on seven hits while walking none and striking out three in four and a third innings. Madison Holder pitched the final two and two-thirds innings and earned the win, allowing one earned run on three hits while walking one and striking out three.
Brilee Anderson started for the Lady Irish, allowing eight runs (seven earned) on 11 hits while walking one and striking out five in six innings. Jakelyn Boone pitched a third of an inning of relief and took the loss, allowing one earned run on two hits with no walks.
