Lady Tigers Fall to Houston County in Opener

BRUCETON (May 4) — The Hollow Rock-Bruceton Central Lady Tigers hosted a satellite game against Houston County Monday to begin the District 12A Softball Tournament. Momentum swung back and forth until the visiting Lady Irish pulled ahead in the fourth to claim an 11-8 win.

Houston County struck first with a pair of runs in the top of the first, but Central tied it in the home half, then took the lead with three runs in the second. The Lady Irish regained the lead with five runs in the third, and the Lady Tigers pulled even again with two runs in the fourth. Houston County took the lead for good with four runs in the fifth. Central's final run came in the bottom of the seventh.

Lady Tiger Abby Baker was 4-for-4 with a home run, two RBIs and one run scored. Madison Holder was 4-for-5 with three RBIs and a run scored. Lilly McGee was 2-for-5 with two doubles, an RBI and two runs scored. Addison Tucker was 2-for-4 with a stolen base. Emy Olds was 1-for-1 with a run scored. Cloe Morgan was 1-for-3 with an RBI. Amelia Bennett was 1-for-4. Kyleigh Baker was 1-for-5. Kylie Craig was 0-for-2 with a walk, a run scored and a stolen base.

Houston County's Kenleigh Finch was 3-for-4 with a home run, two RBIs and one run scored. Brilee Anderson was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs. Ally Mitchell was 1-for-4 with a double, a walk, an RBI and three runs scored. Emmaline Mitchell was 1-for-2 with a run scored. Madelynn Brooks was 1-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored. Peyton Brooks was 1-for-5 with two runs scored. Addie Horn and Preslee Moore were both 1-for-4 with a run scored.

Brilee Anderson earned the complete-game win for the Lady Irish, allowing eight runs (six earned) on 16 hits while walking one and striking out six.

Madison Holder got the start for Central, allowing seven runs (three earned) on six hits while walking one and striking out two in two and a third innings. Kyleigh Baker pitched the final four and two-thirds innings and took the loss, allowing four runs (two earned) on five hits while walking one and striking out one.
