Lady War Eagles Fall to Dresden, End Season

DRESDEN (February 27) — Dresden High School hosted West Carroll Friday night to open the Region 7-1A Girls Basketball Tournament. The Lady War Eagles kept the game close, trailing by just four entering the final frame, but the Lady Lions held on for a 45-36 win.
The loss ends the season for West Carroll.
Dresden had a 10-4 lead after the first frame, led by Jacie West and Elizabith Jarred with a three-pointer each. Jentri Mangiaracinia and Hanna Hale each had a pair. Hailey Mitchell scored all four West Carroll points.
The Lady War Eagles had an 18-17 edge in the second quarter, led by Gracelyn Vernon with seven points, including a three. Aubrey Hammett scored four, and Kinsley Poff hit a three-pointer. Mitchell and Marissa Mueller each had a pair. Molly Robinson led the Lady Lions with eight points, including a pair of threes. Irah Cianfarani scored four, Gracie Adams had three points, and Jarred added a pair. At the half, Dresden led 27-22.
West Carroll had an 11-10 advantage in the third, led by Mitchell with nine points. Chloe Rimmer had a pair. West scored four points for Dresden, and Adams and Robinson each hit a three. Heading into the final frame, Dresden led 37-33.
The Lady Lions claimed the win with an 8-3 tilt in the fourth. West hit a three, and Mangiaracinia also scored three points. Robinson added a pair. Hammett hit a three for West Carroll.
Lady War Eagle Hailey Mitchell led all scorers with 15 points. Aubrey Hammett and Gracelyn Vernon each scored seven, each with a three-pointer.
Molly Robinson led Dresden with 13 points, including a trio of threes. Jacie West had ten points with a pair of three-pointers.
