Lady War Eagles, Rockets Claim Wins

ATWOOD (November 25) — West Carroll High School hosted Clarksburg Tuesday for a pair of basketball contests. The Lady War Eagles coasted to a 62-35 victory. The Rockets took a big lead early and held off a War Eagle rally for a 56-50 win.

West Carroll Lady War Eagles 62, Clarksburg Lady Rockets 35

The Lady War Eagles jumped out to a 24-5 lead after the opening frame, led by Chloe Rimmer with 12 points, including a pair of three-pointers. Aubrey Hammett scored seven with a three. Gracelyn Vernon had three points, and Hailey Mitchell had a pair. Carlie Swinford scored all five Clarksburg points, including a three.

The Lady Rockets cut the deficit with a 14-9 edge in the second quarter, led by Molly Williams with six points. Swinford scored five, and Addison Milam hit a three. Mitchell led West Carroll with seven points, and Rimmer added a pair. At the half, the Lady War Eagles led 33-19.

West Carroll doubled up Clarksburg 16-8 in the third, led by Rimmer with ten points, including a pair of threes. Hammett scored four points, and Mitchell added a pair. Swinford led the Lady Rockets with four, including a three-pointer. Milam and Cari Glosson each had a pair. Entering the final frame, West Carroll led 49-27.

The Lady War Eagles capped the win with a 13-8 tilt in the fourth, led by Alayna Lovelace with four points. Kinsley Poff hit a three-pointer, and Taylor Robinson, Abbi O'Bryan and Marissa Mueller each had a pair. Milam and Glosson each scored four for Clarksburg.

West Carroll's Chloe Rimmer led all scorers with 24 points, including four three-pointers. Aubrey Hammett and Hailey Mitchell each scored eleven, Hammett with a three.

Carlie Swinford led the Lady Rockets with 14 points, including a pair of threes. Addison Milam scored nine with a three-pointer.

Rockets 56, War Eagles 50

Clarksburg stormed out to a 27-8 lead after the first frame, led by Erin Dickson with 15 points, including a three-pointer. Trae Cobb scored six points. Jake Miller hit a three, and Clay Glosson also scored three points. Skyler Wilhite led West Carroll with four points. Mason Taylor scored three, and Trey Williamson hit a free throw.

The War Eagles cut the deficit with a 20-13 advantage in the second quarter, led by Bryler O'Neal with eight points, including a pair of threes. Taylor scored five, Chandler Rimmer had four points, and Damarion Gilbert hit a three-pointer. Cobb led the Rockets with four points. Garrett Bartholomew hit a three. Dickson, Reagan Halter and Gabriel Derryberry each had a pair. At the half, Clarksburg led 40-28.

The third was an 8-8 wash. Taylor led West Carroll with five points. O'Neal added a pair, and Gilbert hit a freebie. Bartholomew led Clarksburg with four points, and Miller and Glosson each added a pair. Heading into the final frame, the Rockets led 48-36.

The War Eagles' rally came up just short in the fourth, 14-8, led by Gilbert and O'Neal with five points each, both with a three-pointer. Taylor and Rimmer each added a pair. Cobb scored five Rocket points, Glosson added a pair, and Dickson hit a freebie.

Clarksburg's Erin Dickson led all scorers with 18 points, including a three. Trae Cobb scored 15.

Bryler O'Neal and Mason Taylor led West Carroll with 15 points each, O'Neal with a trio of three-pointers.
