Lady War Eagles Top Clarksburg in First Round
From the Feb 25, 2025 e-EditionCLARKSBURG (February 17) — The Clarksburg High School Lady Rockets hosted West Carroll Monday in the first round of the District 13A Girls Basketball Tournament. Clarksburg had the lead early, but the Lady War Eagles took control and pulled away in the fourth quarter for a 64-44 victory and a spot in the semifinals.
The Lady Rockets led 15-11 after the first frame, but West Carroll took a 29-28 edge into the break. The Lady War Eagles added to their lead with a 14-10 advantage in the third, then pulled away with a 21-6 tilt in the fourth.
Clarksburg’s Maleigha Abdallah led all scorers with 20 points, including a three-pointer. Sam Segraves scored 13, Libby Autry had eight points, and Carlie Swinford scored three points.
Gracelyn Vernon and Hailey Mitchell led West Carroll with 16 points each, Vernon with four three-pointers. Taylor Robinson scored 14 points. Alayna Lovelace had nine with a three, and Chloe Rimmer had five with a three. Triniti Adkisson scored four points.
