Olivia Troye warned us. Nobel prize winning economists warned us. Michael Steele warned us. Nicole Wallace warned us. Rachel Maddow warned us. Hakeem Jeffries warned us. The January 6th select committee and everyone who testified before them warned us. His teachers warned us. James Carville warned us. Heather Digby Parton warned us. Amy Goodman warned us. Tom Sullivan warned us. Mary Trump warned us. Fred Trump, Jr. warned us.
Republicans, Democrats, and Independents, conservatives, liberals all had the same warning:
Donald Trump is a clear and present danger to democracy. The majority of the American voters chose not to heed the warning.
So, when the Constitution is suspended, remember. When public education and Head Start are gone, remember. When more women’s rights are stripped away, remember. When our military is deployed against American citizens, remember. When the Affordable Care Act is repealed, remember. When the nice family down the street is deported, remember. When internment camps are being built, remember. When prices continue to rise due to corporate price gouging, remember. When there is no one to pick the produce, remember. When public libraries are shuttered, remember. When there is no election in 2028, remember: We were warned.
I pray that I am wrong. God bless us all.
