Local Schools Close for Snow
From the Jan 27, 2026 e-EditionTENNESSEE (January 26) — Carroll, Henry and Weakley County students were gifted a few snow days following the weekend's unrelenting winter storm that began with heavy snow and ended with bouts of sleet and frozen rain.
Carroll County schools, including Carroll Academy, are closed through Wednesday (January 28) — the longest school closing announced in the tri-county area so far.
The Henry County school system is closed Monday and Tuesday (January 26 and 27), as announced January 24 on Facebook.
Weakley County schools are closed Monday and Tuesday, as announced on January 23. County school representatives will re-evaluate weather conditions Tuesday afternoon to decide if additional closures are needed. Families will be notified over call or text, and updates will be posted on weakleyschools.com and on Weakley County Schools' social media channels.
The Tennessee College of Applied Technology Henry/Carroll is closed for in-person classes through Wednesday. Students and faculty are on a remote hybrid platform for those days. A decision about Thursday's classes will be announced Wednesday afternoon. For future updates, check the school's Facebook page or website.
Bethel University also canceled classes in response to the winter storm. There were no classes Monday, January 26, for the College of Arts & Sciences, and all administrative offices were also closed. Students in the College of Health Sciences received guidance directly from the physician assistant and nursing faculty. College of Professional Studies online courses continued as scheduled. The university's most recent update was Thursday, January 22.
While snow and ice have exited the forecast, temperatures are expected to remain below freezing for several days, likely prolonging impacts from the winter storm.
Keep an eye out for additional school postings in the coming days.
