*Murray Outdoor Products donated a new riding mower to the athletic department for use at the new high school.
50 Years Ago — McKenzie Banner’s Editors and Publishers received a plaque for their 104 years of service to the community, state, and nation. W. T. Franklin, President of the TPA, gave the plaque.
*Postmaster Dana Ramsay presented W. A. Mitchell a certificate of appreciation for his 32 years with the postal service.
75 Years Ago — Thousands of automobiles across Tennessee had a “Keep Tennessee Green” sticker. This was part of the effort headed by the UT Agricultural Department. J. H. McLeod, Director of the Agricultural Extension Service, was photographed putting a sticker on his car.
*The Park Theatre put an ad for the movie “Fighter Squadron,” a drama of World War II fighter pilots that co-starred Edmond O’Brien and Robert Stack.
*A. J. Woodall Jackson, attorney and veteran of World War II, was elected State Commander of the Veterans of the four-day V. F. W. Convention.
