10 Years Ago — Andrew Cole performed as Elvis in his fourth grade play “Rockin’ America.”
*McKenzie beat Bruceton in District 13-A Championship. The Final score of the game was 12-4.
25 Years Ago — Derrick Hubble was chosen as “Youth of the Month”. Liberty Hill Baptist presented him with a bible for his church attendance, participation, courtesy, politeness, and willingness to help.
*HOSA students attended a leadership conference. The Tennessee Health Occupations Students of America chapter held their annual state leadership conference in Memphis. The Students who attended were James Cary, Edwina Parker, Jennifer Wallace and Renee Malugen.
* West Carroll students celebrated Earth day by planting trees for their “Outdoor Classroom”. West Carroll got their community involved with “Little Red Wagon” Earth day. This allowed parents and other people in the community to get involved by preparing flower beds and digging wholes for trees among various other Earth Day activities.
50 Years Ago — The McKenzie Memorial Library added a convenient new way to return checked out books outside of Library hours. The Library Assistant Patsy Wofford demonstrated how easy it is to deposit books that needed returned.
*During the March of Dimes walk-a-thon sponsored by Jaycees some new walking techniques were used by a few of the walkers.
75 Years Ago — Tri-County Motors promoted their new Ford Six Tudor Sedan. This car had “picture windows” that were 88% bigger than previous cars. Ford was also selected “Fashion Car of the Year.
*Gulflex Service Station had a change in ownership. They sold to Clarence Barnhart and Marshall Smith. Maybelle and Frank Manning put assured their previous customers that their sign still stood for quality products, honest products, and efficient service.
