10 Years Ago — McKenzie Youth Summer Tee-Ball started. To get an out Kadarius Tharpe threw a ball to Fletcher Holt at first.
*During the McKenzie Elementary School reading program students came to the MES Library for reading assistance. Mrs. Carol Nanney reads with one of these students, Mahki Watkins.
25 Years Ago — Earl Dinwiddie from Huntington High School was selected to play in the Shriner’s East/West Tennessee All Star Classic football game at MTSU.
*Baptist Memorial Hospital upgraded their Computed Tomography area. They installed an advanced helical system, the first in Carroll County.
50 Years Ago — Joel Washburn was presented the typing award by Mrs. Dorris Woodard. He received this award because of his speed and accuracy when typing.
*Mrs. Jean Morgan was chosen for the LPN of the year award. She was chosen for her integrity, adaptability, and proficiency as a nurse. She was presented this award by W. B. Hollowell.
75 Years Ago — The newspaper put a scene from the movie “Pitfall” which showed the beginning of a dangerous affair for Dick Powell. Who was a married insurance investigator who fell for Lizabeth Scott.
*Rev. Thomas H. Campbell got the honorary degree of Doctor of Divinity.
*Goodyear Tires had a deal where they would buy the unused mileage in your old tires and all the customer had to pay on the trade was the added mileage.
