10 Years Ago — Lori’s Hair Solutions celebrated its reopening with a ribbon cutting. The owner, Lori McDade, hosted friends and community leaders, including Mayor Jill Holland, at her shop.

*McKenzie Lady Rebels Softball held their annual banquet. The award winners were Brooke Baucum (MVP), Jessi Elliott (Team Leadership), Emma Arnold (Best Offense), Madison Green (Best Defense) and Autumn Pratt (Lady Rebel Award).

25 Years Ago — Despite the heat, exhibitors and spectators came to the Antique Engine and Tractor Show. Marvin and Margaret Norville of Alamo, pose with their 1947 Oliver Row Crop.

*There was a “Survivor’s Walk” for those who had won their battle with cancer. This was part of the Carroll County Relay for Life Events.

50 Years Ago — Bethel College’s William L. Cottrell Jr., welcomed Mr. Daniel Pittman as a new member of Bethel’s Music Department. Mr Pittman was brought in to conduct the College Band. Dr. Franklin Poole, chairman of the music program, was also there.

*Janie Walker won first place in the 4-H Dairy Poster contest. The National Dairy Association sponsored this contest with the theme “Make it With Milk.”

75 Years Ago — Bobby Patterson won first place in the American Legion Auxiliary. Bobby won the local prize, the West Tennessee Divisional prize, and the State Prize.

*A safety ad was put in the newspaper to encourage people to learn the meaning of road signs for safer driving.

*The McKenzie Park Theater had a showing of “Strange Gamble” and “Wallflower”. They also showed “Ma and Pa Kettle”.
