10 Years Ago — To celebrate Memorial Day, Easton Butler and Harlon Butler carried and placed flags on graves of Veterans at Liberty All.

*Retired Bethel University President Robert Prosser received a resolution from State Senator John Stevens. Prosser was presented this award for building a platform for Bethel University to thrive upon and its impact on Carroll County and the surrounding areas.

25 Years Ago — The Industrial board made an offer on the McKenzie Movie Theater. They had hoped to restore the old building to its original historic condition.

*Mr. Bob Wray, a Gleason Native, showed off his collection of World War II memorabilia. This included books, photos, newspaper clippings, and other items from the time that he served in the Navy. His tour included serving aboard the U.S.S Yorktown, which was sunk in the Battle of Midway

50 Years Ago — Tom Pillow received the ROTC Aviator of the Year trophy. Pillow was a senior majoring in secondary education at the time.

*Jan Moore and Randy Wood were the Carroll County Delegates for the 4-H Regional Resource Development.

75 Years Ago — McKenzie Park Theater had a showing of “Range Renegades” and “Shaggy: A Boy’s Dog” in color. They also showed Walt Disney’s “So Dear to My Heart.”

*Felts Drug Store had a half-price sale on Dorothy Perkins deodorant. Regularly, the deodorant went for one dollar. With the sale, it was only fifty cents.

*Ownby Paints Glass advertised they could save customers money by helping them design their linoleum tile floor and installing it themselves.
