10 Years Ago — Johnny Mercer became the new McKenzie Street Department Supervisor. Johnny has worked with the City of McKenzie since 2007.
*McKenzie Memorial Library held a Summer Reading Program where Kristin Klonowski performed a puppet show.
25 Years Ago — Laura Rushing decided to cut off and donate 46 inches of her hair to people living with cancer or others who lost their hair due to medical conditions.
*Esther-Kathryn Gray completed her final recital requirement to obtain her Bachelor of Music in Voice degree from Indiana University.
50 Years Ago — Sam Siegel hosted a Bar-B-Que dinner in honor of Ed Jones’s re-election campaign. Three hundred people came from West and Middle Tennessee to hear Jones speak.
*There was a summer recreation program. Over one hundred people participated in the gym activities, which included ping pong, croquet, checkers, dominoes, horseshoes, shuffleboard, kickball, basketball, etc.
75 Years Ago — Ward Chevrolet Co. advertised front-wheel alignment in the newspaper.
*Trevathan’s Welding & Machine Shop opened in McKenzie. They offered all types of welding and machine work.
*Cloverleaf advertised in the newspaper that it had cold buttermilk or skim milk for about 5 cents a quart.
