10 Years Ago — Patrick Willis held his 2nd Annual Procamp. Willis gave Camden girl Lauren Richardson a handoff during the camp.
* The last annual Vol State Road Race crossed Carroll County. Tim Scott of Newport News, Virginia, ran for Dry July, an organization that supports adults living with cancer. Ed Masuoka of Laurel, Maryland, ran for “just the heck of it.”
25 Years Ago — Four Huntington High School cheerleaders were named All-American cheerleaders at the NCA camp held at UT Martin. All-American: Lauren Webb, Kaythryn Douglas, Konstance White, and Amanda Powell.
* Trent Johnson and his daughter, Dusty, changed the aeration system hoses to determine the best piping for the African fish at the McKenzie greenhouse.
50 Years Ago — Bethel Basketball Coach, Lionel Sinn announced the signing of 6’4” All-State forward Rick Staley from Indiana.
* Carroll County had a 4th of July celebration. There was an array of activities which included Dwayne D. Maddox on the dunking machine.
75 Years Ago — Park Theater showed the movie “Mother is a Freshman,” which starred Loretta Young and Van Johnson.
* Chevrolet put an ad in the newspaper for their new car. The ad stated the car had a world champion engine, fisher body styling, and many other features.
* An ad was put in the newspaper for an auction sale held at the First Baptist Church Auditorium.
