HUNTINGDON (June 23-24) — Carroll County Library’s summer reading program continued this week with special visits from magician Terry Hedges and Second Harvest Food Bank’s Jennifer Thornton.

Hedges wowed Carroll County Library’s summer reading program participants Tuesday morning with many magic tricks. His presentation revolved around the library’s dinosaur-themed summer reading program, “Unearth a Story,” as he walked students through an application to work at his new dino park. The presentation educated students about different dinosaur species while entertaining them with various jokes and magic tricks.

Wednesday’s Tot Time featured Thornton as a guest reader. She is the coordinator for volunteer and community engagement at Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee-West.

Thornton read dinosaur-themed books to the kids and provided a fun craft to wrap up the event. Each young attendee created and decorated his or her own hatching dinosaur egg.

She also encouraged parents to visit secondharvestmidtn.org to either identify food resources in the region or to get involved with Second Harvest’s efforts.

The Carroll County Library summer reading program continues Wednesday, July 1 with Tot Time featuring Head Start at 10:30 a.m. and Mr. Bond Science Guys at 2 p.m.

The library will be closed Friday, July 3 and Saturday, July 4 for Independence Day.

A program presented by representatives from Natchez Trace State Park is Tuesday, July 7 at 10:30 a.m.
