Man Crashes Truck into Huntingdon Sonic
From the Sep 10, 2024 e-Edition
HUNTINGDON (September 4) - A man crashed into Sonic Drive-In Wednesday afternoon during an apparent medical emergency, leaving the restaurant temporarily closed.
According to staff on site, just after noon, the elderly man reversed normally out of a stall, then rapidly accelerated, still in reverse, into the dining area, which has been closed to customers for several years. Once the vehicle had stopped, the man continued to press the accelerator, burning rubber and the floor tiles underneath.
Despite the extensive damage to the unused dining area, Sonic will reopen for normal hours tomorrow, Thursday, September 5.
The medical status of the driver is unknown at this time.
No other injuries were reported.
