March Inglenook Book Club News
From the Mar 18, 2025 e-EditionMcKENZIE (March 12) — Inglenook Book Club convened on March 12 at Lakeside Senior Living Community in McKenzie. Twenty members were present for the Inglenook Book Club meeting. Carolyn Moore had a guest speaker for the program, and it was a delight to have Mayor Ryan Griffin and Sgt. Cody speak to the group about the Drug Task Force canine-Toby. He is an impressive, intelligent dog, and has served McKenzie and surrounding area by assisting to help eliminate illegal substances from our communities. Many thanks for the presence of Toby, Mayor Griffin and Sgt. Cody for sharing with us today and for the ongoing work to keeping our communities safe.
President Gail Mack called the meeting to order after the program completed. Everyone stood for the reciting of the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by the Club Aim and Motto. Many thanks to Mona Batchelor and Shirley Martin for being hostesses today, serving delicious jello cheesecake, chocolate mints, mixed nuts and assorted beverages. Birthday ladies for March are Suzanne Howell, Jean McKinnie, and Genia Sherwood.
Roll call was completed, followed by the reading of February minutes, which were approved as read. Treasurer Donna Ward gave the Treasurer’s Report, which was also approved as read. President Mack called on the sunshine Chair, Elaine Williams who sent out birthday cards; telephone chair, Carolyn Moore, for calling to remind of meeting date, time, and what items to bring for school donations; and membership chair, Suzanne Howell who introduced new member, Deb Simon. Welcome to the group. 2 current members are now honorary members, and there is currently a need for one more member.
President Mack mentioned again how grateful and appreciative the school is for our monthly donations for the students. There was no old business or new business to discuss. Book passing followed by chair Mary Newman, with the next book passing date of March 26.
Announcements made for next meeting on April 9 at 3 p.m. at Lakeside. Hostesses will be Carolyn Moore and Mary Newman. Program will be presented by Gail Mack. Bring assorted school supplies(pens, pencils, etc.). The benediction was recited by all and the meeting adjourned.
