Marching Rebels Release Competition Schedule
From the Sep 3, 2024 e-EditionThe McKenzie High School Marching Rebels are preparing for a busy competition schedule beginning this month.
They will take their 2024 show “Recess” first to the Pete Evans Showcase on Saturday, September 14 at Johnnie Hale Stadium in Milan.
The band has five more Saturdays on the schedule:
September 21 — Hornet Invitational at South Gibson High School in Medina.
September 28 — Union City Invitational at Union City High School.
October 5 — Huntingdon Marching Invitational at Huntingdon High School.
October 12 — Bethel University Renaissance Marching Invitational at Bethel University in McKenzie.
November 2 — Tennessee Division I State Marching Band Championship at Independence High School in Thompson’s Station.

McKenzie School Board Approves $15.7 Million Budget
McKENZIE (July 7) — The McKenzie Special School District Board of Education approved a $15.7 million budget for the 2026-27 fiscal year during a brief meeting Tuesday afternoon. Also approved was the certified property tax rate of $.7483 per $100 assessed value, unchanged from last year. The tax rate is distributed between the General Purpose Fund ($.4898) and the Debt Service Fund ($.2585).
