Marie Dunning

1935 - 2026

McKENZIE, Tenn. - Funeral services for Marie Kelly Dunning are Sunday, September 6, 2026, at 2 p.m. at Brummitt McKenzie Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Sunday, from 12 p.m. until service time. Interment will follow at Enon Cemetery.


Mrs. Dunning, 91, was born April 15, 1935, in Huntingdon, Tenn., to the late Romey Kelly and Lucille Woodard Kelly. Her parents passed away when she was a child, and she was raised by her aunt and uncle, Gertrude and T.J. Crossno, who also preceded her in death.


Known affectionately as “Mama Re” by her family and friends, Marie lived a long and full life surrounded by those she loved. She graduated from Huntingdon High School in May 1953 and married her true love, Ottis Ray Dunning, on July 11, 1953. They shared nearly 73 years of marriage.

She worked for many years at Wilker Brothers Pajama Factory and later retired from IGA in McKenzie.


In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Tommy Kelly and his wife, Sue; and a nephew, Tony Kelly.


Those left to cherish Marie’s memory include her two daughters, Dixie (Jimmy) Jobe of Dover, TN, and Daveeda (Clay) Clayton of Hughes, Ark.; three grandsons, Billy (Michelle) Jobe of Mt. Pleasant, Tenn., Chris (Paula) Jobe of Dover, Tenn., and Josh (Wendy) Jobe of Clarksville, Tenn.; 12 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren, with two more expected soon; along with other family members and friends who loved her dearly.
