Funeral services for Marsha Lene “Mimi” Townes are Saturday, January 17, 2026, at 1 p.m. at Brummitt McKenzie Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the service time. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
Mrs. Townes is a member of Great Enon Baptist Church, worked at Brown Shoe Co., WSW, Oak Manor Nursing Home, McKenzie Hospital and was a private sitter. She was born on February 17, 1940, in Trezevant and her parents were Jessie and Modena Fuqua.
She is survived by her children, Anita Newbill, Carol Townes, Jessie (Cheryl) Townes and Jimmy Townes, all of McKenzie, her sister Georgia Pearson of McKenzie and brother Fred Phillip of Huntingdon, 12 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband U. L Townes, sons Ewell E. “BC” Townes and Carl Townes, and two great-grandsons, Lorenzo Townes and Shannon Townes.
