Matt Aird Named Paul Harris Fellow

McKENZIE — Matt Aird was recently recognized as a Paul Harris Fellow, the highest recognition bestowed by a Rotarian.

The recognition was given in Aird’s honor by his wife, Misty Aird, who also had the honor of pinning her husband during the presentation. Club vice president and Foundation Chairman Jason R. Martin presented Aird with the Paul Harris Fellow certificate.

Named for Rotary founder Paul Harris, the Paul Harris Fellow recognition was established in 1957 to recognize substantial support of The Rotary Foundation. A person becomes a Paul Harris Fellow when $1,000 or more is contributed to the Foundation’s Annual Fund, PolioPlus or an approved Foundation grant. The contribution may be made personally or by another individual in the recipient’s honor.

The recognition represents support for Rotary’s humanitarian mission around the world. Through The Rotary Foundation, contributions help fund projects focused on disease prevention, education, clean water, economic development, peace and other efforts aimed at improving communities and lives.

Being named a Paul Harris Fellow is therefore more than receiving a pin and certificate. It signifies a meaningful financial commitment to the work of The Rotary Foundation and honors the legacy of Harris, who founded Rotary in 1905 with an emphasis on fellowship and service.
