Mayor Butler Proclaims September 'Library Card Sign-Up Month'

HUNTINGDON (September 10) — Carroll County Mayor Joseph Butler took the short walk over to the Carroll County Library Wednesday morning to make an official proclamation designating September 2025 as Library Card Sign-Up Month.
Mayor Butler was joined by the staff of both the Carroll County Library and McKenzie Memorial Library for the signing of the proclamation.
The official document lauds libraries as "foundational to education, imagination and opportunity, offering everything from early literacy programs to digital tools that support lifelong learning and personal growth."
It declares, "Libraries welcome all people, serving as inclusive and accessible community hubs that connect individuals across cultures, generations and experiences."
The mayor's proclamation goes on to praise libraries for their various contributions to communities and concludes, "a library card opens doors to endless possibilities, from books and technology to lifelong learning and imagination."
Mayor Butler heeded his own official advice, signing up for his library card immediately afterward.
Carroll County Library is located at 625 High St, Suite 102, Huntingdon. Hours are Monday through Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon.
McKenzie Memorial Library is located at 15 Broadway, McKenzie. Hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
