McKenzie Alumni Association Announces Reunion Weekend

McKENZIE — The Rebel spirit is about to be in full effect in McKenzie. The McKenzie High School Alumni Association (MHSAA) has announced a packed schedule that promises to bring graduates back to town for a three-day celebration of school history.

The reunion, running from September 24 through September 26, 2026, centers on a “Decades Reunion” theme, featuring specific events for ten different graduating classes alongside community-wide festivities.

The weekend gets underway on Thursday, September 24, with an open house at the Gordon Browning Museum in downtown McKenzie. From 4 to 8 p.m., the museum will showcase its McKenzie High School Historical Exhibit. The display will remain up through October 3 for anyone who misses the opening.

Friday turns toward tradition. The MHSAA Golf Tournament kicks off the morning at 8 a.m. at Carroll Lake Golf Club—those interested in playing should reach out to Brian Winston at Carroll Bank and Trust to register. By lunchtime, the focus moves downtown for the Homecoming Parade, which starts at 12:30 p.m. The parade starts in the parking lot behind Edward Jones.

Later that afternoon, the historic Park Theatre will host a screening of the “Homecoming ‘86” 40th Anniversary Commemorative Video, presented by the Carroll County Historical Society at 2 p.m. It’s free to attend, though donations are encouraged. The evening wraps up at Rebel Stadium, where the Alumni Tailgate Party starts at 5 p.m. Admission is $7, which covers dinner from local food trucks and entry to the 7 p.m. homecoming football game.

Saturday morning shifts focus to the school’s long-time graduates, with a reunion for the classes of the 1950s and ‘60s running from 9 to 11:30 a.m. at the McKenzie Methodist Church Fellowship Hall.

The exhibit of McKenzie High School is available for viewing at the Gordon Browning Museum on Saturday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Sports history takes the stage at 3 p.m. at the historic Park Theatre, where a roundtable discussion will mark the 20th anniversary of the 2006 McKenzie Rebel state baseball championship. The final event is live music at Hometown Hangout, starting at 6 p.m. Saturday..

Throughout the weekend, ten individual classes—1966, 1971, 1976, 1979, 1986, 1996, 2001, 2006, 2010, and 2016—are organizing their own private gatherings to celebrate milestone anniversaries.
