McKenzie Alumni Decades Reunion Weekend is October 4-5, 2024
From the Sep 10, 2024 e-EditionMcKENZIE — McKenzie High School Alumni Association is hosting its first Decades Reunion on October 4 and 5 with a parade, golf tournament, homecoming game, block party and individual class reunions.
The events kick off with the Alumni Association Golf Tournament on Friday, October 4, 8 a.m. at Carroll Lake Golf Course. All golfers need to be present by 7:45 a.m.
Homecoming Parade — The traditional Homecoming Parade begins at noon on Friday in downtown McKenzie, travels down Stonewall and passed both the McKenzie Middle School and McKenzie Elementary School. MHS students and the administration kindly offer to allow some entries in the parade by the Alumni Association.
Pre-game Decades Reunion begins at 4:30 p.m. outside of Rebel Stadium. The start time is 4:30 p.m. and continues 8:30. Admission to the game is $7 and must be paid by all attendees as they tailgate. Food will be provided by the Alumni Association. An RSVP is requested to participate. The reunion area are casual and come-and-go.
A Block Party in Downtown McKenzie is at 10 p.m. It features Alumni Association Pop-Up Memorabilia Exhibit. The exhibit will be located in McKenzie City Florst, 17 Broadway, downtown.
Saturday is filled with individual class reunions.
10 a.m. is the Class of 1974 at the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Gale Chandler Edwards is the contact.
11 a.m. is the Class of 1969 at the MHS Cafeteria. Terry Howell is the contact.
1 p.m. is the Class of 1979 Reunion at the McKenzie City Park Barn. Mary Ann Bush Gardner is the contact.
4 p.m. is the Class of 1984 Reunion at the MHS Cafeteria. Melinda Moore Leake is the contact.
6 p.m. is the Class of 2014 Reunion at the New Valley Event Venue. Katelyn Ridley Robertson is the contact.
10 a.m. to 2 p.m. -is a second occurence of the Pop-Up Memorabilia Event at McKenzie City Florist.
The weekend is capped with the band Flashback performing at Hometown Hangout from 6 to 8 p.m. It is a place to gather with friends, get dinner, and listen to live music. It is located at 14985 Highland Drive.
