McKenzie Bands Present ‘The Sounds of the Season’

McKENZIE (December 17) — The McKenzie band program presented its annual Christmas concert “The Sounds of the Season” Tuesday evening in the McKenzie High School gymnasium.
This year, the concert included performances by the middle school’s sixth grade beginning band and seventh-eight grade intermediate band as well as the usual high school concert band and color guard.
The home bleachers were filled to capacity with proud families and supporters excited to see the fruits of the budding musicians’ labor.
First-year Director of Bands Daniel Capua introduced each of the bands, speaking highly of their hard work, progress and accolades for the year.
The beginning band performed “Hot Cross Buns” and “Jingle Bells”.
The intermediate band performed “Go Tell It on the Mountain” and “Deck the Halls”.
The high school concert band performed “A Christmas Flourish”, “Continental Christmas” and “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” (with soloist Lola Barton).
The color guard performed an original routine (choreographed by Guard Captain Savannah Lewis) to music from “Wicked”.
The show closed with the high school band and color guard, under the direction of Drum Major Katelynn Essary, performing their parade music, “’Twas the Parade Before Christmas”.
The beginning band includes Brooklyn Andrews, Alice Gallimore, Brooke Harris, Callie Sevick, Malcolm Evans, Allie Ochoa, Kiya Priddy, Genevieve Phipps, Gavin Scott, Annabelle Bobb, Miranda Hood, Xander Morgan, Evelyn Villanueva, Fenix Walker, Aiden Blackwell, Daniel Carroll, Case Holcomb, Cecil Lessenberry, Bryson Poore, Jason Crocker, Eli Davis, Sonny Fuller, Thomas Howard, Hayden Nolan and Leonardo Ochoa.
The intermediate band includes Nevaeh Herris, Caitlin Umstead, Katelyn Martin, Lily Baker, Jazmin Johnson, Sebastian Sass, Charles Scott, Finnian Evans, Hayli McSwain, Zatiya’ Jade Milton, Aurora Nix, Brycen Galicia, Rangleigh Adams, Meghan Cowan and Billy Tabor.
The MHS concert band includes Kaylee Dalzell, Lucy Reynolds, Rachel Essary, Katelynn Essary, Janyla Piro, Athena Chaput, Ethan High, Sebastian Sass, Lola Barton, Miley Pruitt, Ramon Vazquez, Dylan Bomar, Ozzy Lessenberry, Brycen Galicia, Caleb Burns, Nathan Lease, Aydin Neely and Connor Summers.
The color guard includes Savannah Lewis, Molly Drewry, Chloe Garduno, Sadie Goff, Jordyn Leslie, Caylee McClerkin, Jaylee Montgomery, Danie Parker and Kaelyn Stebbins.
