McKenzie, Bradford Split Doubleheader
From the Apr 14, 2026 e-EditionBRADFORD (April 10) — Bradford Middle School hosted McKenzie Friday for a baseball doubleheader. In Game One, the visiting Rebels crushed the Red Devils, 25-0, in three innings. Game Two went to Bradford, 5-2.
McKenzie Rebels 25, Bradford Red Devils 0
In Game One, McKenzie scored eight runs in the top of the first, six in the second and 11 in the third.
Rebel Leighem Broyles was 4-for-4 with three doubles, five RBIs and four runs scored. Seth Stafford was 3-for-4 with a triple, a double, five RBIs and two runs scored. Kenden Coleman was 2-for-3 with a walk, three RBIs, three runs scored and three stolen bases. Reed Gaskins was 1-for-2 with a sacrifice fly, four RBIs and two runs scored. Jake Ghyers was 1-for-2 with a double, a walk, an RBI and three runs scored. Rex Thompson was 1-for-2 with a walk, an RBI and three runs scored. Jackson Barden was 1-for-2 with a walk, an RBI, two runs scored and a stolen base. Dierks Ghyers was 0-for-1 with two walks, a sacrifice fly, two RBIs, four runs scored and a stolen base. Owen Epperson was 0-for-2 with two walks, an RBI and two runs scored.
Red Devil Carter Johnstone was 1-for-1.
Kenden Coleman earned the win for McKenzie, allowing no runs on one hit while walking one and striking out three in two innings. Rex Thompson pitched the final frame, allowing no runs or hits while walking two and striking out two.
Dallas Alexander took the loss for Bradford, allowing 14 runs (ten earned) on eight hits while walking four and striking out one in two innings. Payson Counts faced 12 batters, allowing 11 runs (nine earned) on five hits and three walks. Cameron Cantrell pitched the final frame, allowing no runs or hits with one walk.
Red Devils 5, Rebels 2
Game Two remained scoreless until McKenzie plated a run in the top of the third. Bradford tied it in the home half, then pulled ahead with four runs in the fourth. The Rebels added a run in the fifth.
Rebel Fisher Allen was 1-for-1 with a double and an RBI. Dierks Ghyers was 1-for-2 with an RBI and a stolen base. Colin Yeley was 1-for-1. Owen Epperson was 1-for-2. Ripken Brown was 0-for-0 with two walks. Cord Wall was 0-for-2 with a walk and a run scored. Jake Ghyers was 0-for-1 with a run scored and a stolen base.
Red Devil Owen Thetford was 1-for-3 with two runs scored and a stolen base. P. Wood was 1-for-3 with a run scored. Zeke Carroll was 0-for-0 with two walks and a run scored. Cameron Cantrell was 0-for-1 with a walk and a run scored. Jack Clayton Cates was 0-for-2 with an RBI.
Anderson Hardin earned the complete-game win for Bradford, allowing two earned runs on four hits while walking five and striking out seven.
Dierks Ghyers got the start for McKenzie, allowing no runs on one hit while walking two and striking out five in two innings. Heath Johnson pitched an inning and two-thirds and took the loss, allowing five runs (one earned) on one hit while walking three and striking out two. Mason Davidson recorded the final out, allowing no runs, hits or walks with a strikeout.
