McKenzie Board of Education to Approve Budget, Property Tax Rates
From the Jun 4, 2024 e-EditionThe McKenzie Board of Education meets Tuesday, June 11 at 5:30 p.m. at the Board of Education Office on Bell Ave.
On the agenda is Consider for approval 2024-2025 School District Property Tax Rates and the 2024-2025 McKenzie Special School District Budget.
Up for consideration is the approval accepting the paving bid from Martin Paving Inc. The paving project would be for the McKenzie Middle School and McKenzie High School parking lots.
The Board will have the second reading of amendments to the McKenzie Special School District Board of Education Policy Manual (1.404 Appeals to and Appearance Before the Board and 6.204 Attendance of Non-Resident Students).
On first reading is an amendment to the McKenzie Special School District board of Education Policy Manual: 6.3071 Student Alcohol and Drug Testing.
The Board of Education will consider for approval the following high school instructional fees for the 2024-2025 school year: Science Lab classes $15; Computer $5; Art $15; TN Ready Test Prep $5; Driver’s Education $45 Cap and Gown $75; Stem Class $15; Health Science $10; Health Science Scrubs $40; English I Novel $12; Student Professional Health Liability Insurance $15. For consideration at the middle school are: Science Lab classes $10 and Physical Education $10. For consideration at the elementary school are: Kindergarten $10; 1st Grade $10; 2nd Grade $10; 3rd Grade $10; and 4th Grade $10.
Also noted for consideration for approval is the General Fund Expense Accounts for MES, MMS, MHS.
The Board will consider for approval 2024-2025 Consolidated Application, which includes the following grants: Title IA, II, III, & V under ESSA, IDEA Part B, IDEA Preschool, IDEA Discretionary & Carl Perkins. Authorizes Justin Barden, Director of Schools, as board’s representative to file this project application, and any subsequent amendments, addenda, correspondence, etc. pertaining thereto. Authorizes Ladona Herrin, Supervisor, as contact person for carrying out the duties associated with the Consolidated Application. The Board will consider for approval Justin Barden as district’s fiscal agent (necessary for state- required bonding purposes), and to sign all checks on all district and school accounts.
