McKenzie Falls to Greenfield in Season Opener

McKENZIE (March 17) — McKenzie High School opened the tennis season Tuesday, hosting Greenfield in district competition. The Yellowjackets took a 2-1 win over the Rebels, and the Lady Yellowjackets swept the Lady Rebels 7-0.
Singles play for the boys was 1-1. Greenfield's Deegan Arant defeated Rebel Davarion Gilbert (9-7), and Owen Walker earned McKenzie's lone match win (8-5) over Bennie Cockerham.
Arant and Cockerham won the lone doubles match (8-6) over Walker and Tobey Brooks.
The Lady Yellowjackets were 5-0 in singles play. Avery High defeated Ava Hastings (8-3). Caroline Warren topped Raychel Oliver (8-1). Ava Spikes won over Morgan Little (8-4). Addisen Cooper defeated Lola Sumrok (8-4). Addisyn Totty topped Lillian Brown (8-3).
Greenfield's girls were 2-0 in doubles play. High and Warren defeated Hastings and Little (8-1), and Cooper and Totty topped Sumrok and Brown (8-4).

McKENZIE (July 31) — McKenzie High School hosted Obion County Central Friday evening for an all-Rebel scrimmage at the MHS practice field. The host Rebels looked strong on both sides of the ball, especially during the varsity portion of the contest.
