McKenzie Falls to McEwen in Hard-Fought Volleyball Match

McKENZIE, Tenn. (August 24, 2026)  — The McKenzie High School varsity volleyball team faced a challenging outing on the court August 24, ultimately falling to McEwen in a 1-3 match decision. Despite the loss, the team remains competitive with a season record of 3-1.
The match was a back-and-forth battle, particularly in the second set, when the Rebels surged to a 26-24 victory. However, McEwen proved resilient, clinching the opening set 25-17, and dominating the third and fourth sets with scores of 25-18 and 25-7, respectively.

In its second year of competition, McKenzie faced McEwen, which has a deep bench and years of competition as a school.
Individual standout performances highlighted the Rebels’ efforts throughout the match. Jaycee Stafford led the statistical charge, contributing 3 aces, 8 digs, and 6 kills. The team’s defensive efforts were anchored by Charlie Cassidy, who recorded 10 digs, and Maggie Hall, who added 8 digs to the tally. At the net, Kynadie Brown facilitated play with 5 assists and 5 sets, while Braylin Auvenshine and Brown both contributed 3 blocks each.
In the junior varsity match, McKenzie fell to McEwen in two straight sets (0-2).
