McKENZIE (July 4) — The City of McKenzie's Freedom Festival lit up the night sky Saturday, to the delight of many residents. The annual Fourth of July event, hosted at the McKenzie City Park, persevered despite severe storms looming ahead.

While waiting for the fireworks show to start, attendees enjoyed food and drinks from various food trucks including Sweet Heifers, Burkes, Italian Ice, Elevate, Groovy Glazed Donuts, Bubba's Hot Dogs and Ryro's Lemonade.

The city's Freedom Train shuttled attendees to and from their vehicles as the park became increasingly crowded. McKenzie police officers and firefighters maintained a strong presence to ensure safety.

The fireworks display was handled by Pyro Shows, the LaFollette, Tenn.-based company also responsible for Nashville's largest-ever fireworks show on Saturday night.

JT Williams and Milan firefighters Mark Chartrand and Grant Singleton prepared the fireworks for McKenzie's show.

The fireworks show began at 9 p.m. and lasted approximately 10 minutes.
