McKenzie, Huntingdon Lead Carroll County in TCAP Performance
From the Jul 21, 2026 e-EditionThe Tennessee Department of Education released the 2025-26 TCAP assessment dashboard last week, revealing state- and district-level results. The released data reveals that McKenzie and Huntingdon had the highest percentages of students meeting or exceeding state expectations compared with their in-county counterparts.
The TCAP dashboard shared the results of all school districts in Carroll County except the South Carroll Special School District.
With 43.1% of students elementary through high school meeting or exceeding expectations in English/language arts (ELA), the McKenzie Special School District outperformed its county neighbors and is the only county district to exceed the state's percentage of students meeting or exceeding expectations.
Statewide, 42.3% of students met or exceeded expectations in ELA.
Hollow Rock-Bruceton had 37.8% of students meeting or exceeding the state average in ELA, Huntingdon had 40.9% and West Carroll had 34.1%.
The Huntingdon Special School District topped its neighboring districts in math, with 46.3% of students elementary through high school meeting or exceeding expectations. Both Huntingdon and McKenzie (45.5%) districts exceeded the state's percentage of students meeting or exceeding expectations
Statewide, 40.9% of students met or exceeded expectations in math.
Hollow Rock-Bruceton had 35.3% and West Carroll had 27.4% of students who met or exceeded state expectations in math.
Middle-schoolers across the state were also tested on their social studies knowledge. McKenzie Middle School students topped its neighbors in social studies, with 57.1% of students meeting or exceeding expectations.
Statewide, 50% of students met or exceeded expectations in social studies. While McKenzie's numbers exceeded the state percentage, Huntingdon Middle School met the state percentage exactly.
Hollow Rock-Bruceton had 39.2% and West Carroll had 47.2% of students meeting or exceeding state expectations in social studies.

Results can be filtered by grade, subject level, student groups and communities.
Individual student data will be available in the TCAP Family Portal later this month. Families can use the portal to obtain additional information to better understand their students' individual score reports and the next steps for supporting their students' academic progress.
