From the Oct 29, 2024 e-EditionUnlawful Possession of a Weapon — Tayla I. Brown, 33, Rhodes Avenue, Memphis and Jonathan Aundrey York, 48, Boeingshire Drive, Memphis were both arrested for Unlawful Possession of a Weapon and Simple Possession after a traffic stop in McKenzie on October 25.
Officer Dustin McClure stopped the vehicle due to inoperable lights on the registration tag. As you approached the stopped vehicle, he indicated he could smell marijuana. York admitted that he and Brown were both smoking marijuana. Brown also announced there was a handgun in the glovebox and marijuana and Gabapentin were located in the vehicle. Both subjects were arrested and the juvenile in the back seat was referred to the Department of Child Services and the vehicle was towed by D&D Wrecker Service.
DUI, Texting While Operating A Vehicle — Bradley Gibson, 45, Paris Street, McKenzie, was charged with Driving Under the Influence, Prohibited Use of an Electronic Device While Driving, and Violation of Implied Consent during a traffic stop on October 24.
Officer Dustin McClure made the traffic stop after observing Gibson operating a vehicle while using his cell phone. Gibson did poorly on a field sobriety test and he refused the blood-alcohol test. The vehicle was released from the scene to another individual. Gibson was transported to Carroll County Jail.
Online Scam — Two McKenzians were the subject of a scam that involved both subjects.
Officer Bryan Batchelder investigated the report of a female who said she was reportedly on the phone with customer service for Facebook Marketplace when her phone was hacked, rendering it dead. The incident also involved some money being moved into another McKenzian’s Venmo account. The matter is under investigation.
