Driving Under the Influence — Timothy Baker, Park Street, McKenzie, was charged with Driving Under the Influence on August 12.

Officer Michael Cunningham responded to a report of a vehicle striking a utility pole at the intersection of Walnut and Booker. When Officer Cunningham arrived, several individuals were attempting to push the car out of the roadway. Cunningham knew Baker’s license was suspended in Florida. He was administered field sobriety tests and then charged with DUI. Baker refused a blood-alcohol test and was transported to Carroll County Jail.

Online Scam — A McKenzie man fell victim to an online scam that resulted in him sending a total of $12,000 in value of gift cards and cashier’s checks.

Officer Kyle Beauchamp filed the report on August 16 about the man, who had been following an all-girls band and believed one of the girls was his girlfriend of four years with whom he corresponded online. Then he received a message that his girlfriend had been kidnapped and the ransom was $95,000.

The ‘girlfriend’ was the perpetrator, who claimed to be a singer in a famous all-girls band named “The Castellows.” The victim once drove to Nashville to give her a ride after she arrived the airport. However, after he waited for several hours, the perpetrator messaged that she got a ride with someone else.

Photos, sent through the messaging app Telegram, of the girl with facial bruises reportedly were evidence enough for him to send money.

The officer explained to the victim that he was scammed. Officer Beauchamp contacted Adult Protective Services to help the victim access needed services.

Domestic Assault — A husband and wife were arrested for Domestic Assault on August 11.

Officer Jayden Rembert was dispatched to the residence of Wesley McCaskill, Jr., and Amy McCaskill when the married couple had a dispute resulting in the assault charges. Both were transported to Carroll County Jail.

Domestic Assault — Paul Todd, Highway 22, Gleason, was arrested for Domestic Assault on August 11 after he reportedly assaulted a female in the parking lot of a business.

Officer Jeff Winberry reported that he responded to the business parking lot, where Todd had attempted to force the female out of the driver’s seat of the parked car. Todd was standing outside of the vehicle. The female stated he had attempted to remove her from the vehicle by pulling on her neck and arm, causing her to hit her head and placing her in fear for her life.

Todd was transported to Carroll County Jail.
