McKenzie Police Reports - September 3, 2024
From the Sep 3, 2024 e-EditionVandalism, Burglary — Kendrick D. Wharton, 34, Park Circle, McKenzie was arrested for Burglary, Vandalism, and Trespassing after he reportedly threw a firecracker in a vehicle parked in Walnut Circle on August 28.
Sergeant Cody Coleman was dispatched to Walnut Circle where the victim stated a firecracker was placed in her car and exploded, damaging the car and knocking a window off its track. Wharton was witnessed running from the scene. He was located on West End Avenue and arrested for vandalism and also trespassing because he was banned from the property of the McKenzie Housing Authority.
Simple Possession, Drug Paraphernalia — Two persons were arrested on August 29. Courtney Johnson, 31, Buchanan, and Wanda Joyce Wheeler, 57, Buchanan, were both arrested after their vehicle was stopped due to a malfunctioning light on the registration plate.
Officer Dustin McClure said the vehicle, driven by Wanda Wheeler, passed his patrol car and he witnessed the inoperable light.
The officer reported he could marijuana when he stopped the vehicle. A probably cause search revealed drug paraphernalia, Adderall, and marijuana. Both were arrested on charges of Drug Paraphernalia, Simple Possession of Schedule 2 and 6, and Wanda was additionally charged with display of plates.
Criminal Simulation, Altering Registration — Dwayne Patrick Jones, 53, McDonald Avenue, McKenzie, was charged with Altered/Forged Title or Plates, Violation of Financial Responsibility, and Criminal Simulation on August 30.
Officer Dalton Raspberry observed the temporary registration tag on a 2002 Cadillac appeared to be forged. He stopped the vehicle driven by Jones. He determined the tag was forged, the registration document was forged, and Jones had several fake cash app cards. The officer located additional insurance cards that were marked -forged, no good. A check with dispatch revealed Jones had 35 outstanding arrest warrants out of Carroll County for Criminal Simulation and Forgery. Jones was on probation for an incident in May 2024.
Driving on Suspended — Erica Diane Gordon, 41, Finch Road, Gleason was charged with Driving on a Suspended License, Violation of Financial Responsibility, and Violation of the Light Law after a traffic stop on August 26.
Officer Timothy Dillon stopped Gordon’s vehicle because the light on the registration plate was not illuminated. The officer learned the driver’s license was suspended and their was no insurance on the car. She was cited into General Sessions Court.
Theft of Property — Shawn M. Mitchell, 42, Buchanan, was arrested for Theft after he was stopped for a malfunctioning tail light on August 25.
Officer Darren Davis stopped Mitchell’s vehicle and learned the driver had an active warrant for Theft of Property in Clarksville. Mitchell was arrested and transported to Carroll County Jail to be held for Clarksville Police Department.
