McKenzie's TNT BBQ to Close July 31
From the Jul 14, 2026 e-Edition
McKENZIE (July 11) — After almost six years of serving the McKenzie community, local favorite TNT BBQ has announced it will permanently close on July 31, 2026.
Owners Anton Townes and Michael Taylor opened the restaurant on September 16, 2020, at 436 Elm Street, realizing a goal they had held since childhood. The location, which previously housed Pat Houston's Grocery, held special meaning for the owners, who grew up visiting the site.
"This has been a goal of ours since we were kids," Townes said during the restaurant’s ribbon-cutting ceremony in 2020. Over the years, the restaurant became known for its hickory-smoked meats, including ribs, pulled barbecue, wings, and house-made sides like potato salad and slaw.
In a statement posted to social media on July 11, the owners shared that the decision to close was difficult, but they expressed their appreciation for the community.
"We are incredibly thankful for the trust you placed in us and for allowing us to be a part of this community for the last 5 years," the owners wrote. "The friendships, conversations, and memories we’ve made with all of you are something we’ll always cherish."
TNT BBQ remains open for business during its regular hours — Thursday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. — until their final day of operation on July 31. The owners invite customers to visit for a final meal and to share a few laughs before they close their doors.
