McKenzie Senior Citizens Center Celebrates Fortieth Anniversary

McKENZIE (September 21) — Members of the McKenzie Senior Citizens Center gathered Saturday at First Cumberland Presbyterian Church to celebrate the fortieth anniversary of the organization’s charter.

The group was organized in 1984 and the charter was approved by the state on February 8, 1985.

Saturday’s celebration was also the inaugural Members Banquet, featuring food, live entertainment, awards and door prizes.

Carol Armpriest was master of ceremonies, and Reggie Wiggins delivered the blessing.

Simply Southern catered the event, and staff from Reviving and Thriving Transitional Living provided table service.

Mitchell Brown and Jordan May provided technical support, and May also provided piano music during dinner.

Musical performers included Isaac Steven, Hannah and Nathan Eaton, Brittany Martin, Chelsea and Mitchell Brown and Jon and Anna Eaton.

The Center’s own McKenzie Silver Steppers performed a dance routine. They are Tammy Crawford, Bonnie Teas, Ramona Dyer, Scott Armpriest, Brenda Lackey, Leigh Goodwin and Nancy Davenport. Davenport provided choreography.

Mike (Bubba) Abrams — Most Helpful, Best Bingo Player.

Tammy Host — Most Crafty.

Nancy Davenport — Most Likely to be Smiling.

Scott Armpriest — Best Pool Player.

Jimmie Martin — Craziest Personality.

Nancy Barletto — Best Laugh.

Willie Bobbitt — Most Likely to Make You Laugh.

Jim Seaton — Best Domino Player.

Dorothy Harper — Queen, Best Dressed, Best Canasta Player.

George Harper — King, Most Kind.

The Harpers — Best Couple.

The Center’s executive board includes Carol Armpriest, Tammy Host, Dwayne Hollowell, George Harper, Jerry Rayburn, Nancy Davenport and Mabel Plank.

The Center’s activity committee includes Chairman Nancy Davenport, Mabel Plank, Leigh Goodwin, Tammy Host and Carol Armpriest.
