McKenzie Sweeps Central

McKENZIE (January 13) — McKenzie High School hosted Hollow Rock-Bruceton Central Tuesday for a pair of district basketball contests. The Lady Rebels pulled away early and coasted to a 63-30 win. The Rebels rallied from a halftime deficit to pull ahead and claim a 60-44 victory and complete the sweep.

McKenzie Lady Rebels 63, Central Lady Tigers 30

The Lady Rebels jumped out to an 18-7 lead after the opening frame, led by Jaycee Stafford with nine points, including a pair of three-pointers. Addyson Littleton scored six on a pair of threes, and Braylin Auvenshine also hit a three. Lady Tigers Emy Olds, Lilly McGee and McKenzye Castleman each had a pair, and Scarlette King hit a free throw.

McKenzie pulled away with a 24-9 advantage in the second quarter, led by Auvenshine with seven points, including another three-pointer. Madeline Gottshall scored six, and Littleton had five points with a three. Molly French hit a three-pointer, and Stafford also scored three points. McGee led Central with four points. Olivia Scott hit a three, and Ava Finley had a pair. At the half, McKenzie led 42-16.

The Lady Rebels enjoyed a 14-8 tilt in the third, led by Stafford with eleven points, including a trio of three-pointers. Auvenshine hit another three. Finley and Cloe Morgan each scored four for the Lady Tigers. Entering the final frame, the Lady Rebels led 56-24.

McKenzie capped the win with a 7-6 edge in the fourth, led by Alleigh Britt with four points. Zayda Scates hit a three-pointer. McGee, Finley and Abby Baker each had a pair for Central.

Lady Rebel Jaycee Stafford led all scorers with 23 points, including five three-pointers. Braylin Auvenshine scored 13 with a trio of threes. Addyson Littleton had eleven points, also with a trio of three-pointers.

Lilly McGee and Ava Finley led the Lady Tigers with eight points each.

Rebels 60, Tigers 44

The first frame was a 10-10 wash. Tiger Parker Finley scored six on a pair of threes, and Seth Thomas had four points. Rebels Nolan Fawcett and Cole Brown each hit a three-pointer, and Cayden Ownby and Eli Vinson each had a pair.

Central pulled ahead with a 12-7 edge in the second quarter, led by Finley with six points. Thomas scored four, and Nic King had a pair. C. Brown led McKenzie with three points, and Kason Brown had a pair. Fawcett and Cooper Davidson each hit a free throw. At the half, the Tigers led 22-17.

The Rebels stormed back, 19-8, in the third, led by Avery Brown with eleven points, including a three-pointer. C. Brown scored five with a three. K. Brown added a pair, and Ownby hit a freebie. King, Thomas, Finley and Brody Huff each had a pair for Central. Heading into the final frame, the Rebels led 36-30.

McKenzie sealed the win with a 24-14 tilt in the fourth, led by C. Brown with ten points, including a pair of threes. A. Brown scored eight points, and K. Brown had six. Finley led Central with six points on a pair of threes. King, Thomas, Junah Smith and Liam Piersol each had a pair.

Rebel Cole Brown led all scorers with 21 points, including four three-pointers. Avery Brown scored 19 with a three, and Kason Brown had ten points.

Parker Finley led the Tigers with 20 points, including four threes. Seth Thomas scored 12 points.
