McKenzie Sweeps Milan on Senior Night

McKENZIE (February 11) — McKenzie High School celebrated Senior Night Tuesday and earned a decisive sweep over visiting Milan. Fourteen senior players, managers and cheerleaders were honored prior to the games, joined on the court by family members.
The Lady Rebels pulled away in the third for a 55-38 win, and the Rebels also solidified their 61-39 victory with a strong third quarter performance.
In the pregame ceremony, senior Lady Rebel Sophie Pate was escorted by parents Chandra Pate and Joel and Amanda Pate. Manager Jacey Pinson was escorted by parents Jason and Jennifer Pinson.
Rebel Landon Brown was escorted by parents Allen and Tonya Brown. KD Cunningham was escorted by parents Trell and Raven Tharpe. Carter Kee was escorted by parents Josh and Courtney Kee. Landyn Smith was escorted by father Kendall Smith and grandparents Larry Joe and Tiffany Smith. Tate Surber was escorted by parents Tommy and Meredith Surber. Craegen Travis was escorted by parents Jennifer Travis and Brian Travis. Manager Kyla Beveridge was escorted by sisters Payton Lamonte, Andra Herrin and Teyrn Beveridge. Ally Gibson was escorted by parents Brent and Alycia Gibson.
Cheerleader Baylee Barden was escorted by parents Dr. Justin and Allyson Barden. Reese Gallimore was escorted by parents Kevin and Kim Gallimore. Lydia Pate was escorted by parents Jeremy and Gina Pate. Laila Scott was escorted by parents Michael and Latisha Scott.
McKenzie Lady Rebels 55, Milan Lady Bulldogs 38
The Lady Rebels had a 17-15 lead after the opening frame, led by Molly French with seven points, including a pair of three-pointers. Jaycee Stafford scored four, and Sophie Pate hit a three. Braylin Auvenshine had a pair, and Aurora Johnson hit a free throw. Lady Bulldog Akayah Hyde scored four points. Raela Curry had three points. Piper DePriest, Allie Grant, Tieanna Adkisson and CoCo Thomas each had a pair.
McKenzie had an 11-8 edge in the second quarter, led by Stafford with seven points, including a three. Ava Hastings scored four, also with a three. Grant led Milan with five points, including a three. Curry added a pair, and DePriest hit a free throw. At the half, McKenzie led 28-23.
The Lady Rebels had a 17-8 advantage in the third, led by Stafford with seven points, again with a three-pointer. Auvenshine scored four points with a three, and Hastings and French each hit a three. DePriest, Grant, Curry and Tara Neely each had a pair for Milan. Entering the final frame, the Lady Rebels led 45-31.
McKenzie capped the win with a 10-7 tilt in the fourth, led by Stafford with five points, including a three. Pate hit another three-pointer, and Johnson added a pair. Curry, Aaliyah Stephens and Jaliyah Hale each scored two Milan points, and Adkisson hit a freebie.
Lady Rebel Jaycee Stafford led all scorers with 23 points, including a trio of three-pointers. Molly French scored ten, also with a trio of threes.
Allie Grant and Raela Curry led the Lady Bulldogs with nine points each, Grant with a three-pointer.
Rebels 61, Bulldogs 39
Milan had an 11-9 edge after the first frame, led by Kaleb Moore and Izaia Clark with four points each. Skylan Phinnessee hit a three-pointer. Tate Surber led McKenzie with five points, including a three. Craegen Travis scored four points.
The Rebels took the lead with a 16-11 advantage in the second quarter, led by Surber and Carter Kee with six points each. Cole Brown scored four. Bulldog Jayden Brown scored four points. Nants Lickliter hit a three, and Keondre Hawkins and Adrian Spain each had a pair. At the half, the Rebels led 25-22.
McKenzie pulled away 18-6 in the third, led by Surber with eight points. Landon Brown scored six, and C. Brown had four points. Phinnessee hit a three for Milan, Moore added a pair, and Clark hit a free throw. Heading into the final frame, McKenzie led 43-28.
The Rebels sealed the victory with an 18-11 tilt in the fourth, led by Surber with eleven points, including a pair of threes. Kee scored five with a three, and Travis added a pair. Phinnessee scored five with a three for Milan. Clark had four points, and Moore added a pair.
Rebel Tate Surber led all scorers with 30 points, including a trio of three-pointers. Carter Kee scored eleven with a three.
Skylan Phinnessee led Milan with eleven points, including a trio of threes.
