McKenzie Teachers Honored
From the Feb 4, 2025 e-Edition
The memory of Mrs. Cleo Dudley Webb, a beloved and longtime member of the community was honored by her daughter, Dr. Reo Dudley Edwards, a 1979 graduate of McKenzie High School. Dr. Webb recognized the outstanding service of two exceptional teachers from McKenzie Middle School.
Mrs. Cleo, a devoted mother of ten and grandmother to more than twenty, deeply valued education despite being unable to complete her own schooling in the 1940s. She firmly believed in the transformative power of learning and instilled in her children the importance of higher education and giving back. Her enduring legacy is reflected in the many academic achievements of her children and grandchildren, who have earned technical certifications, college degrees, master’s degrees, and even doctorates.
Inspired by this commitment to education, Dr. Reo Dudley Edwards is honored to recognize two McKenzie Middle School teachers for their dedication and excellence in the classroom. These educators have demonstrated an unwavering commitment to student success through high-quality instruction. Amanda Morris achieved the highest growth scores across all 5th–8th grade subjects at MMS on the 2023–2024 TCAP assessment, while Josephine Wright earned the highest achievement scores across the same subjects. In recognition of their accomplishments, each teacher was awarded a $1,500 check from the Cleo and Reo Dudley Fund.
On behalf of Mrs. Cleo Dudley Webb’s entire family, they celebrate and support these outstanding educators. The Cleo and Reo Dudley Fund, established in her honor at the Communities Foundation of Texas, continues to support the causes she cherished most: church, education, and social services.
