McKenzie Volleyball Edges Riverside in Five-Set Thriller
From the Sep 1, 2026 e-EditionRIVERSIDE – The McKenzie High School varsity volleyball team secured a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Riverside on Monday, August 25, improving their season record to 4-1.
The match proved to be a back-and-forth battle. After dropping the opening set 13-25, McKenzie rallied to take the second set 25-22. Despite a third-set loss (15-25), the Lady Rebels showed resilience by narrowly winning the fourth set 26-24 and clinching the match with a decisive 15-9 performance in the fifth set.
Key contributors in the varsity win included Jaycee Stafford, who led the team with 11 aces and 12 kills. Addison Milam also made a significant impact at the net with 14 kills and five blocks, while Kynadie Brown orchestrated the offense with 14 assists, 1 kill, and 1 ace; Maggie Hall had 1 dig, and Braylin Auvenshine had 2 aces, 3 assists, 10 kills, and 1 block.
The McKenzie JV squad also enjoyed success on the road, sweeping Riverside 2-0 and moving to 3-2 on the season. Standout performances included Serenity Bobo, who tallied 4 aces and 3 kills, Abby Carroll had 3 aces, 5 assists and 1 kill, Madilyn Milam had 3 aces and 2 kills. and Charlie Cassidy, who added 4 aces and 2 kills.
