McKenzie Wraps Regular Season with Dominant Victories

SHARON/MILAN (September 15-16) — The McKenzie High School golf teams wrapped the regular season with two dominant performances on Monday and Tuesday and are looking to carry that momentum into the upcoming district tournament.

Monday, the teams traveled to Persimmon Hills Golf Course in Sharon to face three district opponents, Westview, Union City and Dresden (boys only).

The Lady Rebels bested Westview and Union City by 17 and 24 strokes. Charlie Weatherford was the match medalist, shooting a 40. Madelyn Morris scored a 46 for the team total of 86.

The Rebels defeated their three opposing teams with a score of 151. Westview was six strokes back for second place. Ethan Bradberry's 33 was good for match medalist with Ace Brown just behind with a 34. Nolan Fawcett's 37 and Brady Allison's 47 filled out the team score.

Tuesday, the teams visited Milan Golf and Country Club, facing only the host Milan teams.

The Lady Rebels again shot an 86 for the win, this time by 21 strokes. Weatherford was the match medalist with a 34, two under par.

The Rebels scored a 158 to claim the win by 39 strokes. Brown had the edge for match medalist with a 36, followed by Bradberry with a 38. Fawcett shot a 40 and Allison a 44 for the team total.

For three seniors, it was their final regular season match. Landon Otis had a score of 47, Eli Vinson shot a 48 and Owen Walker had a 51.

The final regular season records are 26-8 for the Lady Rebels and 44-6-1 for the Rebels.

The District 14A tournaments are Monday, September 22 at Persimmon Hills. 

The three top teams from each tournament advance to the Region 7A tournament, along with the top five individual players from nonqualifying teams.
